About Getting to Garmisch-Partenkirchen
GaPa Tourism recommends the train: the regional train from Munich runs hourly, and at weekends direct ICE trains link Garmisch-Partenkirchen with Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt and Nuremberg, arriving in the town centre. Flixbus line 040 runs eight times a day to and from Munich and Innsbruck.
By car from the north, take the A95 to its end and follow the B2 into town. From the A7, follow the Fernpass road (B179), then the B187 towards Garmisch/Ehrwald/Lermoos and the B23. From the south, come via Mittenwald on the B2, or from the Inn valley motorway A12.
At peak times expect traffic and long delays; GaPa Tourism suggests arriving outside the busiest hours or by public transport.
