About Getting to Vail

Discover Vail gives Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) as 35 miles from Vail, Denver International (DEN) about 118 miles east along I-70, and Grand Junction (GJT) about 146 miles west. Once you are here you will not need a car: the villages are pedestrian, and the town’s buses run without a fare.

Peak travel days on I-70 are Fridays westbound and Sundays eastbound, so plan your drive around them. In winter storms Colorado’s Traction Law may require four-wheel or all-wheel drive, or suitable tyres with 3/16-inch tread.

If I-70 closes for weather, stay put until it reopens; check COTrip.org before you set off.

Shuttles: Epic Mountain Express runs shared and private transfers from both airports; Colorado’s Bustang coaches link Denver with Vail.
