From Milan, the year-round route is SS36 to Lecco, SS38 via Sondrio and Tirano to Bormio, then SS301 over the Foscagno Pass and through Trepalle. The pass is open 24 hours; snow chains or winter tyres are compulsory from 15 October to 30 April.
