The 3.5 km tunnel is the way in from Trentino-Alto Adige, the Engadin, Switzerland and northern Europe. Traffic is one-way, alternating by traffic light, open 24 hours; vehicles over 3.60 m are not allowed and winter tyres or chains are compulsory. Tickets for cars can be bought online. Maintenance hours apply from 26 October to 7 November 2026.
