ADLER Dolomiti stands on Strada Rezia in the centre of Ortisei, a five-star spa resort of warm colours and local wood in its own parkland. Its bathing world has indoor, outdoor and brine pools and a Dead Sea salt lake, with the family AGUANA sauna world and adults-only lake saunas, and dinner is a gourmet menu of five or six courses.

In the heart of Ortisei

ADLER Dolomiti stands at Strada Rezia 7, in the heart of Ortisei and Val Gardena, with 9,000 m² of parkland around it. Rooms use warm colours and native wood.

Pools and baths

The indoor pool leads into a large whirlpool beneath a crystal pyramid, and the outdoor pool, steaming in winter, looks out to the mountains. There is a brine pool with whirl jets and a warm salt lake of Dead Sea salt with light and sound. The pool water is treated by the Grander method. Panoramic rest rooms, heated water beds, a pavilion facing the Langkofel, larch-wood cabins and a courtyard with a fire pit are scattered through the grounds.

The saunas

The AGUANA sauna world is family-friendly, for swimsuits: an organic hay sauna, a Kraxenofen hay sauna, a flower steam bath in a rock grotto, a rose bath in the ladies’ area and an oriental rasul bath. The salt cave has a salt-stone sauna and a pond of Dead Sea salt, and can be booked privately. Across a walkway, the lake saunas are for adults only: a biosauna, a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, a hot whirlpool, a plunge pool and a fire area.

Rooms and suites

Nido doubles are cosy rooms panelled in wood with oak floors; Superior rooms are larger and sunny, some with balconies; Junior Suites have balconies with panoramic Dolomites views and bathtubs. Family Suites take three to five people, some with separate rooms.

Eating and drinking

The main restaurant has a Tyrolean parlour and a winter garden. Breakfast is a buffet, and dinner a gourmet set menu of five or six courses of Alpine and Mediterranean dishes with a salad and starter buffet; vegan, vegetarian and allergy needs are catered for. Lunch can be added. Guests may also dine at the small Restaurant ADLER Balance next door at no extra charge. The historic ADLER Bar serves cake in the afternoon and cocktails at night, sometimes with live music, and the cellar hosts wine tastings.

Families

Children have the AKI Kids Club.

Our advice: book a Junior Suite for the Dolomites view, swim outdoors in the snow, and keep an evening for the adults-only lake saunas.
