About Amangani
Amangani stands on East Gros Ventre Butte, looking across the Snake River Valley to the Tetons, in redwood and sandstone that recall the Old West. Aman says the resort is currently closed for an extensive refurbishment; when it reopens, it offers a 35-metre heated pool, a Wellness Centre and a ski lounge in Teton Village.
Above the Snake River Valley
Amangani sits atop East Gros Ventre Butte, a short drive from Jackson Hole Airport, with views over the peaks and plains of the Snake River Valley. Its architecture of redwood and sandstone evokes the pioneering spirit of the Old West. Please note: Aman states that Amangani is currently closed while it undergoes an extensive refurbishment, with reopening announced as coming soon. Check with Aman before planning a stay.
The Wellness Centre and pool
The Wellness Centre has four redwood-panelled treatment rooms, movement and fitness studios, and men’s and women’s changing areas with eucalyptus steam rooms. It opens straight onto the heated outdoor 35-metre pool and hot tub, both with mountain views, and the fitness centre runs 24 hours. Massages range from deep tissue to Thai and hot stone, with Himalayan salt scrubs and facials using Aman’s own Essential Skin line. Non-residents may book treatments, with facilities open for an hour before or after.
Evoking the pioneering spirit of the Old West, in Aman’s words, in its redwood and sandstone architecture.
The suites
Suites are high-ceilinged with large picture windows, wood and stone, woven cowhide chairs and faux-wolf throws, and every one has a balcony or terrace, a fireplace and mountain views. Aman gives sizes of 58 sq m (625 sq ft) for suites such as the Gros Ventre, 62 sq m (676 sq ft) for the Spring Gulch Suite and 72 sq m (780 sq ft) for the Sena and Amangani Suites; note that the same page also calls a 625 sq ft suite the largest. The Amangani Homes, set into the hillside, add kitchens and lofty living rooms.
Eating and drinking
The Grill, the redwood-panelled main restaurant, looks over the valley through floor-to-ceiling windows and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner: new American cooking built on local ranch meats, fresh fish and farm produce. Meals can also be served fireside in your suite, by the pool or on the sun deck, and the bar is known for seasonal cocktails such as a huckleberry martini. Morning coffee and pastries are served at the Zinc Bar.
Skiing
In winter, the Amangani Ski Lounge sits in the heart of Teton Village, a 20-minute drive away, steps from the Bridger Gondola and the Aerial Tram, with ski concierge and refreshments. Equipment can be delivered to the hotel or the lounge, and snowshoes are lent for the trails around the resort.
Our advice: when Amangani reopens, book a suite facing the Tetons and keep an afternoon for the pool at sunset.
