Goldener Hirsch
A Bavarian-style inn in Silver Lake Village · In depth
About Goldener Hirsch
Goldener Hirsch, part of the Auberge Collection, joins a family-owned Bavarian-inspired inn to sleek residences by the architect Tom Kundig, in Silver Lake Village a few steps from the Deer Valley lifts. Its 64 rooms, suites and residences share a heated rooftop pool and infinity-edge hot tub, a sauna and a fireside restaurant.
In Silver Lake Village
Goldener Hirsch stands at 7520 Royal Street in Silver Lake Village, mid-mountain at Deer Valley, steps from the chairlifts. The original inn has antique furnishings, arched doorways and wood furniture imported from Austria; the residences next door, by Tom Kundig, bring high ceilings and huge windows. Historic Main Street is about five minutes away, and the hotel runs a shuttle within four miles that is included for guests.
Pool, sauna and treatments
Wellness here is mountain-scaled rather than a large spa. The heated rooftop pool and infinity-edge hot tub look out over the Wasatch peaks and are open to hotel guests all year, and a dry sauna sits on the top floor of The Residences. Massages, facials and bath and sound rituals are given in your room, with private yoga, Skier’s Stretch and Pilates sessions and a zen garden for quiet.
A charming Bavarian-inspired inn with sleek modern residences, in the hotel’s words, mid-mountain at Deer Valley.
Rooms and residences
The 64 rooms, suites and residences are set across three buildings. Rooms and suites in the original inn range from 420 to 817 sq ft, most with wood-burning fireplaces and balconies over the mountain or the village. The newer Goldener rooms and suites have marble baths with dual vanities and walk-in rain showers, and the residences, of one to three bedrooms, add chef’s kitchens, dining areas and private balconies, ideal for families staying longer.
Eating and drinking
The fireside restaurant, with hand-carved wood, embroidered velvet and murals of woodland scenes, serves the house’s celebrated signature dishes alongside modern alpine cooking. The Bar at Goldener Hirsch serves lunch, dinner and drinks with Bavarian touches, and The Kitz, with seating on the veranda and in the Antler Lounge, does coffee, pastries, sandwiches and Bavarian pretzels. The wine list, anchored in Austria with bottles from the Jura, Savoie and Alsace, runs to more than 500 labels, with 20 by the glass.
Ski services
The hotel has private ski lockers, a dedicated ski concierge, ski valet and on-snow storage in Silver Lake Village, and the concierge can arrange equipment and transport to other mountains.
Our advice: book an inn room with a wood-burning fireplace for the classic Goldener Hirsch stay, or a residence for a family, and end your ski day in the rooftop hot tub before dinner by the fire.
