About Hotel Mohren

Hotel Mohren stands on the Marktplatz in Oberstdorf’s pedestrian zone, about ten minutes from the Nebelhorn cable car and the ski jump. First recorded in 1478 as a tavern by the church, it is run today by the Brandt family, with rooms over the square, a relaxation area with sauna, the Mohren restaurant and café and a vaulted wine cellar some 500 years old.

On the Marktplatz

The Mohren stands on the Marktplatz, in the pedestrian heart of Oberstdorf, about ten minutes from the Nebelhorn cable car and the ski jump. It was first recorded in 1478 as a tavern by the church, the oldest inn in the upper village. The great fire of 1865 destroyed the building, all but its vaulted cellar. The Reisigl and Brandt families took over the house in 1994, and the Brandt family runs it today, with hotel director André Brandt.

Wellness

Wellness here is simple: a relaxation area with a sauna. For pools, the Oberstdorf thermal baths are in town.

A place where time loses its meaning and pleasure takes centre stage, in the hotel’s words.

Rooms

The new Signature rooms are doubles in the style of a 1920s grand hotel, with a large balcony. South-facing doubles have a sunny bay window or balcony over the Marktplatz; comfort doubles are quieter; and there are single rooms and a two-room apartment for up to five, with a balcony.

Eating and drinking

The Mohren restaurant serves upscale regional cooking with international finesse under chef Daniel Höfling, daily from 11am to 11pm, with hot food until 9pm. The café has a sun terrace on the square for breakfast, cake and a British afternoon tea on order. Below, the vaulted wine cellar, around 500 years old, hosts set menus, wine evenings and fondue or raclette nights.

Our advice: ask for a south-facing room over the Marktplatz, and book a fondue evening in the vaulted cellar.
