Hôtel Mont-Blanc has welcomed guests since 1849 and is a five-star Belle Époque palace just off Chamonix’s main street, completely renovated by the designer Sybille de Margerie. It has 41 rooms and suites, a Spa by Clarins with a heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi facing the peaks, and Le Matafan restaurant.

Hôtel Mont-Blanc has been a valley institution since 1849. It stands on the allée du Majestic, just off the main street in the centre of Chamonix, and its interiors recall the palaces of the town’s great age, reinvented by the designer Sybille de Margerie.

Spa by Clarins

The spa’s great pleasure is outside: a heated outdoor pool and a jacuzzi with views of the peaks. Inside are a steam room and sauna, a hammam, an experience shower, a herbal-tea room and a fitness room. Treatments, facials and massages are by Clarins.

Rooms and suites

There are 41 rooms and suites. Standard rooms measure 19 m² and Superior rooms 22 m², facing the Aiguille du Midi; Prestige rooms are 27 m² and Prestige Plus 35 m², facing the Brévent. Junior Suites run from 39 m² to 45 m², the largest facing Mont Blanc; the Duplex Suites are 75 m² for four with a Mont Blanc view; and the Penthouse Suite measures 100 m², for five, looking to the Aiguille du Midi.

Eating and drinking

Le Matafan is the hotel’s restaurant, where chef Mickey Bourdillat cooks a cuisine that goes back to basics, fine and tasty, in his words, with a nod to local dishes and travels through the Alps, the Aosta Valley and the Mediterranean.

Our advice: ask for a Junior Suite facing Mont Blanc, swim in the outdoor pool as the snow falls, and book Le Matafan for your first night.
