About Hotel Savoy Edelweiss
The Savoy Edelweiss dates from 1936 and is one of Sestriere’s few historic hotels, in the centre, 150 metres from the lifts. Its 29 rooms have 1950s furniture hand-painted by a local artist, and it has a small spa with Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, hot tub and colour-therapy relaxation room, a bar and a restaurant in Piedmontese Baroque style.
A piece of Sestriere’s history
The Savoy Edelweiss was built in 1936 and is one of the few historic hotels in Sestriere. It stands in the centre, in a sunny, quiet spot 150 metres from the lifts and 100 metres from the new pool, close to the sports hall, the Lausetta lake and the main walks.
Wellness
The wellness centre has a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, a hot tub, a heated bench and a relaxation room with colour lighting, just what you want after a day on skis.
A holiday has never been so far from everyday life, in the hotel’s words.
Rooms
There are 29 rooms of different sizes, most furnished in warm mountain style with authentic 1950s local furniture, hand-painted by a local artist with 1930s Sestriere posters or mountain flowers. Panoramic rooms have balconies, some with baths, and the spacious Prestige rooms suit those who want more room.
Eating and drinking
The restaurant, in a discreet and elegant Piedmontese Baroque style, is one of the hotel’s prides, with a continental breakfast and a buffet of Italian and regional dishes. There is a welcoming bar, large sitting and tea rooms, and a children’s corner.
Our advice: ask for a panoramic room with a balcony, and look out for the hand-painted furniture, a little museum of Sestriere’s golden age.
