About Getting to Aspen Snowmass

Most visitors fly to Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), where RFTA buses run into Aspen and Snowmass Village without a fare. The Aspen Chamber gives Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) as 70 miles, about 1 hour 30 minutes, and Denver as 220 miles, about 3½ hours by I-70 and Glenwood Springs.

Please note: Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will be closed from 4 April 2027 to 19 November 2027 for runway reconstruction, so late-season visitors should plan on Eagle or Denver.

By road from Denver, take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs, then Highway 82 to Aspen. The scenic Independence Pass route is only open in the warmer months, typically from Memorial Day weekend to early November, and is closed to vehicles over 35 feet.

By road from Denver, take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs, then Highway 82 to Aspen.

Check road conditions with the Colorado Department of Transportation (cotrip.org, or 511 in the state) before setting out in winter.
