About Le Refuge de Solaise
Le Refuge de Solaise sits at 2,551 metres at the summit of Solaise, about 800 metres above Val d’Isère, reached only by the Solaise cable car. It has 16 rooms and suites, four apartments and a 14-bed dormitory, a spa with an indoor pool, panoramic saunas and hot and cold baths, and Savoyard cooking on a sunny terrace.
At the summit of Solaise
The Refuge sits at 2,551 metres, at the top of Solaise, with the village about 800 metres below and long hours of sun. In winter you reach it only by the Solaise cable car from the snow front, which runs daily from 9.00 to 16.30 and arrives about 200 metres from the hotel; on some evenings it runs later. When the lifts close, the mountain is yours.
The spa
The spa overlooks the valley. There is an indoor pool, which the tourist office gives as 25 metres, an outdoor hot bath and a cold bath, a panoramic sauna (with an outdoor panoramic sauna too), hammams and jacuzzis. The Contrast Therapy session, inspired by Nordic rituals, alternates heat and cold, with departures at 17.00, 18.00 or 19.00 on evening-opening days, and skincare treatments are by myBlend.
Indoor pool, outdoor hot bath, cold bath, panoramic sauna, hammams: the spa, in the hotel’s words.
Rooms, apartments and the dormitory
There are 16 rooms and suites with large windows over the valley, some with sunny terraces: Compétition (35 m²) and Compétition+ (50 m²), Coupe du Monde (42 m²) and Coupe du Monde+ (58 m²), and Olympique (68 m², for five). Four apartments take groups, from Danaïdes for four to Glacier (160 m²), Madeleine (168 m²) and Charvet (380 m², for eighteen). The 70 m² dormitory sleeps fourteen.
Eating and drinking
Restaurant Le Refuge serves generous Savoyard cooking on a large sunny terrace, at lunch daily from 12.00 to 15.30 and at dinner from 19.00 to 21.00, some nights for hotel guests only and on others for everyone who books. Le Bar du Refuge serves cocktails with mountain views, open to all until 16.30 and to hotel guests after that.
Our advice: stay at least two nights, take the Contrast Therapy at dusk, and watch the last skiers go down before dinner.
