Locanda La Brenva has roots going back to 1897 and once welcomed members of the House of Savoy. After a careful restoration it keeps its old stone walls, exposed beams and fireplaces, with ten individual rooms, a sauna, cosy lounges and a restaurant of Aosta Valley produce, a few minutes’ walk from the Skyway Monte Bianco.

An old inn at La Palud

La Brenva stands on the Scorciatoia La Palud in Entrèves, a few minutes’ walk from the Skyway Monte Bianco. Its history goes back to 1897, when it welcomed members of the House of Savoy, and a careful restoration has kept the old stone walls, exposed beams and fireplaces of the mountain house.

Wellness

This is an inn, not a spa hotel: wellness means the warmth of the sauna and the comfort of the lounges after a day on the mountain. The house also sells Estella Skin Care cosmetics.

“A journey through time, an embrace between past and present,” in the inn’s words.

Rooms

There are ten rooms, each with its own character. Doubles measure about 15–17 m², with a double bed or twins; two connecting rooms of about 15 m² each suit friends or families; and the duplex Suite Brenva, rustic and elegant, has a mezzanine bedroom.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant is warm and intimate, with a menu built on local produce and on fish from sea and lake. Think De Bosses ham and valley cheeses with seven-grain black bread, homemade tagliatelle with wild boar, venison stew with red-corn polenta, and tarte Tatin with Gressan Renette apples. Breakfast is a buffet of local produce, and the barmen mix drinks in the lounges.

Our advice: book the duplex suite, take the first Skyway cabin of the morning, and save dinner in the restaurant for the evening you come back down.
