About Copperhill Mountain Lodge

Copperhill stands at the top of Förberget, 730 metres up above Åre, a hotel built almost entirely of wood by the American architect Peter Bohlin. Level Spa has a 30°C indoor pool, an indoor hot spring at 36°C and an outdoor hot spring at 38°C looking to Åreskutan, saunas, a snow bath and six treatment rooms, and Restaurant Niesti draws on Sami food culture.

At the top of Förberget

Copperhill stands 730 metres up at the top of Förberget, in Björnen, where the road ends. Peter Bohlin designed it almost entirely in wood, and it takes its name from the area’s copper-mining past. Guests have their own lift to the slopes.

Level Spa

The spa looks over the Jämtland mountains. Inside are a large pool at 30°C and a hot spring pool at 36°C; outside, a hot spring pool at 38°C faces Åreskutan. There are saunas in the women’s and men’s changing rooms and two shared saunas in the spa, one opening onto a snow bath in winter, plus relaxation areas with lounge sofas. Six treatment rooms offer facials, massages and body treatments with GM Collins and Babor.

A hotel built almost entirely of wood, with hot springs facing Åreskutan.

Entry is booked in time slots, with spa hours 6–8am, 10am–1pm and 5–7pm, and a Late Night Spa 7–10pm; the age limit is 14. Children aged 3–14 come with a guardian to the Kids Pool Club, 8–10am and 1–5pm. Spa entry is not included in the room rate, but hotel guests pay a reduced rate, with bathrobe, towel, fruit and the gym included.

Rooms

Rooms are named after metals. The Steel Cabin has 15 m², Steel Standard, Bronze and Bronze Deluxe rooms 22 m², and Bronze Large 37 m². Magnesium rooms of 45 m² and Copper rooms of 50 m² sleep four, and Silver rooms of 50 m² two. Zinc, 65 m², sleeps six, Brass, 74 m², eight, and Gold, 75 m², four. Gold Deluxe, at 110 m², sleeps eight, and the Villa has 700 m².

Eating and drinking

Restaurant Niesti joins traditional Nordic food and modern gastronomy, drawing on Sami food culture and Jämtland produce, with a tasting menu. The Fireside Lobby & Bar serves lunch, coffee and drinks from morning until late, and there is afternoon tea and a bakery. Children have the Copperkids programme and Simla’s Kids Club.

Our advice: book a Silver or Gold room, take the Late Night Spa slot in the outdoor hot spring under the stars, and reserve Niesti’s tasting menu for your first evening.
