Hotel Fjällgården sits in the middle of the slopes above Åre, at the top of the Bergbanan funicular and a short walk from the square. It has a pool looking over Åredalen, hot tubs and a sauna, massages and facials, rooms with Hästens beds and mini suites, a restaurant of well-made food and après-ski with a live band.

In the middle of the slope

Fjällgården stands right in the slope above Åre village, at the bottom of the Snobbrännan run and the top of the Bergbanan funicular, so you ski in and out. In summer the mountain’s hiking trails and the bike park start close by.

Pool, hot tubs and treatments

The pool looks out over Åredalen, and there are hot tubs and a sauna. Treatments, given by a therapist from Hårsta Hälsan on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in winter, include Swedish classic massage of 30–75 minutes, foot and calf massage, facials, a face, hand and foot treatment and a children’s massage; book online or through the hotel.

Rooms

Rooms run from Standard doubles to Deluxe family rooms for three and Deluxe XL rooms for up to four with a panoramic valley view, attic rooms for families with older children, a two-level mini suite for two and the Mini Suite Deluxe, the hotel’s wedding suite. Beds come from Hästens.

Eating and après-ski

The restaurant serves coffee, lunch and dinner every day, home-cooked and well made. Après-ski comes with a live band Monday to Saturday in season.

Our advice: book a Deluxe XL room for the valley view, ski in for après-ski with the band, and end the evening in a hot tub above the village.
