About Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands on the shore of Lake Louise in Banff National Park, facing the Victoria Glacier and ringed by peaks. Its 539 rooms and suites look out to the lake and the mountains, and it offers BASIN Glacial Waters, Fairmont Spa Lake Louise, an indoor pool and seven restaurants.
On the shore of Lake Louise
The Chateau looks across the emerald lake to the Victoria Glacier, one of the great views of the Rockies. In winter the lake freezes and the Chateau becomes a base for skiing at three resorts, Lake Louise above all, while summer brings hiking from the door.
BASIN Glacial Waters and the spa
BASIN Glacial Waters is the Chateau’s own thermal bathing experience, exclusive to hotel guests: a self-guided journey of hot and cold immersion along curated pathways, designed with raw materials and quiet spaces. It opens daily from about half an hour before sunrise until 10pm, and is booked in advance. Fairmont Spa Lake Louise offers personalised massages and facials.
The historic jewel of the Canadian Rockies, in the hotel’s words.
The indoor pool, steam room and whirlpool are open daily from 6am to 11pm, with an adults-only hour each night from 9.30pm. The fitness centre has its own whirlpool and a stretching room with yoga mats and foam rollers.
Rooms and suites
Each of the 539 rooms and suites has views of the lake or the mountains. Fairmont Lakeview rooms face Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier; Deluxe rooms are larger, and those in the Mount Temple Wing more spacious still. Fairmont Gold adds exclusive amenities.
Eating and drinking
There are seven restaurants. Fairview Bar and Restaurant overlooks the lake with seasonal menus inspired by the Rockies; the Lakeview Lounge, famous for its views, serves lunch and dinner with hand-crafted cocktails; Walliser Stube serves Swiss, German and Alpine dishes and authentic fondue; and Louiza is the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. Afternoon Tea, a tradition since 1890, comes with views of the turquoise water.
Our advice: book a Lakeview room, reserve BASIN for the early morning or after skiing, and keep a winter night for fondue at Walliser Stube.
