About Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Fairmont Chateau Whistler stands at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, with 519 rooms and suites looking over the valley, woods and peaks. Its Health Club pairs Vida Spa with a 60-foot heated lap pool, an indoor/outdoor leisure pool, four whirlpools, sauna and steam rooms, and the Mallard Lounge is a Whistler après institution.

At the base of Blackcomb

Fairmont Chateau Whistler stands at 4599 Chateau Boulevard, at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, a landmark of the resort since it opened. A slopeside ski valet stores your equipment and has it ready when you return, and the concierge in the main lobby arranges activities, dining and transport.

Vida Spa and the pools

Vida Spa offers treatments inspired by nature’s elements, from signature Ayurvedic rituals to facials and massages. The Health Club around it has a 60-foot heated lap pool, an indoor/outdoor heated leisure pool for all ages, four whirlpools, hot pools, a sauna, steam rooms and a fitness centre. Private poolside cabanas with drinks service can be booked from May to September. Note that the lap pool and main pool close for annual maintenance on set dates each autumn.

Whistler’s premier destination and landmark hotel, in the hotel’s words, at the base of Blackcomb Mountain.

Rooms and suites

There are 519 rooms and suites in a modern alpine style, with views of the valley, the woods or the slopes; Deluxe Slopeside rooms have the most popular views of Whistler Mountain and the Blackcomb runs. Junior Valley View Suites measure 475 sq ft, one-bedroom corner suites face the slopes with a jacuzzi tub, and two-bedroom family suites have fireplaces and three bathrooms. Fairmont Gold, a hotel within the hotel, adds private check-in, a lounge with breakfast and canapés, and suites up to a loft penthouse with 25-foot windows.

Eating and drinking

The Mallard Lounge and Terrace, at the foot of Blackcomb, is the place for après in winter and patio cocktails in summer, with Canadian and West Coast dishes and live music on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm. The Wildflower is the family-friendly restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and Portobello is the casual stop for sandwiches, pastries, coffee, local craft beer and a smokehouse menu.

Summer and pets

In summer the hotel adds its golf course and daily excursions into the Whistler wilderness. Dogs are welcome for a nightly fee.

Our advice: ask for a Deluxe Slopeside room, book Vida Spa for the end of your first ski day, and claim a table on the Mallard terrace before the lifts close.
