About Green Mountain Inn

Green Mountain Inn has welcomed guests on Main Street in Stowe village since 1833 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its 101 rooms, suites, apartments and townhouses are spread across eight buildings, with a year-round heated outdoor pool, a health club and The Whip Bar & Grill.

On Main Street since 1833

Built by Peter C. Lovejoy in 1833, the inn was once Mansfield House and the Brick Hotel before becoming the Green Mountain Inn in 1893; the Depot Building of 1897 housed the Mount Mansfield Electric Railroad. Today it stands in the centre of Stowe village, with the galleries, shops, the Sunset Rock trail and the 5.5-mile recreation path on the doorstep.

Pool, jacuzzi and massage

The year-round heated outdoor pool and in-ground outdoor jacuzzi are the inn’s winter treat, with three fire pits and the Mansfield Gardens alongside. The health club has a sauna and an indoor jacuzzi, and Stowe Village Massage works in the inn. There are game rooms for adults and children, and tea and cookies in the afternoon.

Timeless New England hospitality in the heart of historic Stowe, in the inn’s words.

Rooms, apartments and townhouses

Classic rooms in the historic Main Inn or the poolside Annex have Vermont hand-crafted furniture and one or two queen beds; Classic Suites add a sitting area over Main Street, and Classic Balcony Rooms overlook the pool. Deluxe rooms, in the Main Inn, Depot Building or Club House, have fireplaces and jacuzzis. The apartments and townhouses have full kitchens; the two-storey Sterling and Pinnacle apartments have fireside jacuzzis.

Eating and drinking

The Whip Bar & Grill, home to Stowe’s first liquor licence, serves a seasonal menu with Vermont craft beers, ciders and spirits and its signature Sac de Bon Bon dessert. 18 Main, with its fireplace and Vermont art, serves the inn’s hearty breakfasts, and the Pool Bar opens in summer.

Our advice: book a Deluxe room with a fireplace and jacuzzi, swim in the heated pool under the snow, and dine at The Whip. Stowe Mountain Resort is a drive up Mountain Road.
