About Hotel Alpenrose, Schönried
The Alpenrose has been owned by the von Siebenthal family since 1947, now in the third and fourth generations. It sits at 1,230 metres in Schönried, near the Horneggli lift, with 24 individually decorated chalet rooms, suites and apartments, the gourmet restaurant Azalée and, in winter, Sammy’s Grill & Bar.

The Alpenrose sits at 1,230 metres on the sunny terrace of Schönried, a few minutes from Gstaad. The von Siebenthal family has owned it since 1947, and today Yasmin and Johannes von Siebenthal run it with Carole and Michel, the third and fourth generations. A cable car runs from the village centre to the Horneggli, and in winter you reach the region’s largest ski area directly.
Wellness
The wellness area is small and private: a sauna and a jacuzzi, which you can book for yourselves for a surcharge.

Rooms and suites
There are 24 rooms, suites and apartments, each individually decorated with antique details. The two suites measure 70 m², one with a fireplace and one with a panoramic view and evening sun; the junior suites are 55 m², with an open fireplace and mountain views. The Wildhorn-Gletscher deluxe doubles (45 m²) face south and the mountains. Families have a 50 m² family room and an 80 m² deluxe family room on two levels with a view of the Wildhorn glacier, and two apartments on the top floor suit longer stays.
Eating and drinking
Azalée is the gourmet restaurant, with a panoramic terrace, where Johannes von Siebenthal has led the kitchen since August 2024, cooking with sustainability, seasonality and quality in mind. It opens for dinner Wednesday to Sunday and for lunch at weekends. Sammy’s Grill & Bar opens in winter, rustic and relaxed, with a rôtisserie in the middle of the room, fondue, tartare and lobster.
Our advice: book a junior suite with a fireplace, reserve the sauna and jacuzzi for yourselves after skiing, and divide your evenings between Azalée and Sammy’s.
