Six Senses Spa and MEGU · In depth
About The Alpina Gstaad
The Alpina Gstaad combines comfort, privacy, artistry and tradition, in its own words: 56 rooms and suites with private terraces, a Six Senses Spa with indoor and outdoor pools, the Japanese restaurant Megu and a Kids World. The hotel reopens for winter on 11 December 2026.
An Alpine hideaway
The Alpina stands on the hillside above Gstaad, a short drive from the Promenade, and calls itself a true Alpine hideaway. Its 56 rooms and suites all have private terraces and long views, and the interiors are classic Alpine: hand-built stone fireplaces, period painted furniture and carved wooden ceilings. The hotel reopens for the winter season on 11 December 2026.
The Six Senses Spa
The spa brings the surrounding landscape inside “with an Eastern flair”, as the hotel puts it. There is a 25-metre indoor pool with two jacuzzis and a heated outdoor pool, a colour-therapy sauna for men and a saunarium with heated water beds for women, a steam room and a salt room. The hydrotherapy circuit adds experience showers, ice showers with small ice fountains, and hot and cold plunge pools.
“A true Alpine hideaway, a discreet and personalised hotel experience,” in the hotel’s words.
Treatment rooms include single rooms for specialist therapies such as sound sessions, multi-purpose rooms and couples’ suites; three connected rooms can become a women-only area. There is a fitness centre and a studio for classes, and the spa also offers biohacking sessions and wellness programmes.
Rooms and suites
Rooms run from Deluxe Rooms through Junior, Deluxe and Grand Luxe Suites. For families or friends, the Chalet Suite and the Panorama Residence each have three bedrooms.
Eating and drinking
The kitchen is led by executive chef Francesco De Bartolomeis. Megu serves refined Japanese cuisine; Monti is a convivial sharing restaurant; the Swiss Stübli keeps to Swiss traditions; and the Alpina Lounge & Terrace is the relaxed, elegant all-day room. There is also a Japanese whisky bar and a cigar lounge, and the hotel hosts visiting chefs for culinary residencies.
Families
Kids World centres on the Tree House Club, with workshops, games and outdoor exploration, an outdoor playground and a babysitting service, plus a children’s winter menu.
Our advice: book a Deluxe Suite with a terrace facing the mountains, reserve Megu for one evening, and take the hydrotherapy circuit after skiing, finishing on the outdoor pool as the sun drops.
