About Kulm Hotel St. Moritz
The Kulm marks the place where winter tourism began in 1864, perched above Lake St. Moritz with the village and the Engadin mountains below. It has a 2,000 m² spa with a 10 x 20 m indoor pool, an outdoor waterfall jacuzzi, saunas and stone grottos, rooms in Swiss stone pine, the Kulm Country Club and the Altitude Bar.
Where winter began
The Kulm is the hotel where winter tourism began, in 1864, and it has more than 170 years of history. It sits above Lake St. Moritz, looking over the village and the Engadin peaks.
The Kulm Spa
The spa covers 2,000 m², with the scent of pine and views over the lake. The heated indoor pool measures 10 by 20 metres, for laps or floating, and the outdoor waterfall jacuzzi faces Lake St. Moritz and Piz Rosatsch. Children have their own pool. There is a whirlpool, cold-hot pools for tired legs, a salt steam bath, a sauna in local Grisons style (a mixed nude area), a Swiss stone pine bio-sauna for women only, natural stone grottos and a heat-therapy room, with a Technogym fitness area. Facials are by Facegym, with a Ski and Sculpt menu, and the hair salon uses Philip B. Day guests can visit with a booked treatment.
This is where St. Moritz began, and here it still feels just as it always has, in the hotel’s words.
Rooms and suites
Rooms and suites blend Swiss stone pine with modern comfort; the quietest look over Lake St. Moritz, others over St. Moritz Dorf. Some interiors carry the illusionist decoration of Renzo Mongiardino.
Eating and drinking
The Kulm Country Club, hung with old sporting clothes and photographs of sporting legends, serves Mauro Colagreco’s Alpine-meets-international cooking and a long list of gins. The Lobby Lounge is the original living room of St. Moritz, for afternoon tea by the window, and the Altitude Bar has piano music in the evening. Every restaurant has a children’s menu, and at 6.30pm children can dine supervised in the Salon d’Or.
Families and skiing
The kids’ club takes children up to 12, Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to noon and 4pm to 9.30pm, with babysitters on request and group ski lessons with the St. Moritz ski school. The new Alpine Sports Lounge & Boutique has a ski concierge and equipment.
Our advice: ask for a lake-view room, swim in the waterfall jacuzzi at sunset, and book the Kulm Country Club for dinner.
