About The Chedi Andermatt
The Chedi Andermatt, opened in 2013, is the village’s five-star, with rooms that start at 55 m² and fireplaces in the deluxe rooms. Its Spa and Health Club covers 2,400 m², with an indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool, hydrotherapy pools and twelve spa suites, and there are eight restaurants and bars, among them The Japanese and The Japanese at Gütsch.
Alpine scale, Asian calm
The Chedi opened in Andermatt in 2013 and changed the village. It is a hotel of large rooms, open fires and long views, with panoramic windows looking over the village or up to the mountains of the Urseren Valley.
The Spa and Health Club
The spa covers 2,400 m². There is an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool with mountain views, and a hydrotherapy area of three heated pools, including a jacuzzi and a cold plunge. A Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, a steam room and a brine steam room surround a relaxation lounge, and twelve deluxe spa suites are kept for massages and treatments. The Health Club’s gym has Matrix equipment, with personal training and private yoga on request.
Large panoramic windows open up views of Andermatt village or the surrounding mountains, in the hotel’s words.
The spa opens daily from 7.00 to 21.00. Children are welcome until 19.00; after that the spa is for guests aged 16 and over, and the Health Club is for over-16s at all times. Treatments for younger guests can be booked at any hour.
Rooms and suites
Even the entry rooms are large. Alpine Deluxe Rooms measure 55–69 m², with a fireplace, and Furka View Deluxe Rooms 58–69 m², with a double-sided fireplace. Alpine Junior Suites run to 69–89 m², and Alpine Deluxe and two-bedroom suites to 94–128 m². The Gemsstock Suite (115 m²) has a fireplace and panoramic views; the Grand Alpine two-bedroom suites measure 192–223 m², facing the Gemsstock and Nätschen; and the signature suites are the Oberalp (189 m²) and the Furka (318 m²), each with three bedrooms.
Eating and drinking
There are eight restaurants and bars. The Restaurant serves European and Asian dishes, The Japanese is the hotel’s Japanese-inspired fine-dining room, and The Japanese at Gütsch brings the same cooking to 2,400 metres on the mountain. The Bar and Living Room, the Cigar Library, the Wine Library and The Lobby complete the house.
Our advice: a Furka View Deluxe Room with its double-sided fire is the one to book, swim outdoors as the light fades on the Gemsstock, and save one lunch for The Japanese at Gütsch.
