Vander Urbani is a design hotel at Krojaška ulica 6, in Ljubljana’s pedestrian-only old town beside the Ljubljanica, a member of Design Hotels. It has a rooftop terrace with a pool in summer, rooms from 18 m² to 28 m² Riverside rooms, the HAUS restaurant, an à la carte dining room and Champagne Suzy, with Krvavec within easy reach for a ski day.

In the old town

The hotel stands in the pedestrian centre of Ljubljana, and electric Kavalir carts bring guests from Dragon Bridge to the door without charge. The bus and train stations are about 900 m away and the airport 26 km, so Krvavec makes an easy day out for skiing with a city evening to follow.

The rooftop

The rooftop terrace looks over the tiled roofs and streets of the old town. In summer its pool is open 09:00–18:00 for swimming and sunbathing, and the terrace hosts yoga and massages.

Rooms

Vander Small rooms measure 18 m², with a 160 cm bed; Vander Zen rooms, also 18 m², have a full-height glass wall, Moroso poufs and in-room massage on request. Vander Large rooms and the Riverside Side and Riverside Front rooms measure 23–28 m² with long super-king beds, the Riverside rooms looking to the Ljubljanica. Frette linen, Moroso armchairs and luxury cosmetics run throughout.

Eating and drinking

HAUS is the cosy wood-lined restaurant with lively flavours, and the à la carte restaurant serves lunch and dinner from local produce, with vegan and vegetarian tasting menus. The bar opens at 17:30, and Champagne Suzy, the cocktail bar, from Wednesday to Saturday, 19:00–01:00.

Our advice: book a Riverside Front room, spend a day on Krvavec, and come back for cocktails at Champagne Suzy. The Kapitelj garage is five minutes’ walk away.
