About Burg Hotel Oberlech
The Burg began in the early 1960s as Helga and Fridolin Lucian’s milk bar in the middle of the piste and is now the first building on the square in car-free Oberlech, run by three generations of the family. It has two wellness areas, one for families and one for adults, four apartments with private spas, the Lechtaler Stube and the Burg Restaurant.
From milk bar to Alpine lodge
In the early 1960s Helga and Fridolin Lucian opened a small milk bar in the middle of the piste at Oberlech. Year by year it grew into the Burg, now the first building on the square. Fridolin also had the tunnels built under the village in 1998, which is why Oberlech has been car-free in winter ever since. Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian took over in 2000, and Patricia and Christian Lucian are the third generation.
Two wellness areas
The family wellness area is open daily from 8am to 8pm: an indoor pool, a children’s pool with a slide, a family whirlpool and a relaxation room, with a quiet tepidarium for adults. The adults’ Burg Oasis opens from 2pm to 8pm, earlier on request or in bad weather: a Finnish sauna, an organic stone pine sauna, adventure showers, an infrared cabin with Himalayan salt blocks and brine spray, a whirlpool by the fire, a spring-water pool at 15 °C and a snow cabin of fresh powder.
“Tradition en vogue,” in the family’s words.
Massages and beauty treatments run from 9am to 8pm. The herbal oils are made in the house, from arnica and yarrow that senior host Gerhard Lucian gathers above 2,000 metres.
Rooms and apartments
Rooms are furnished in wood with the SAMINA sleep system; the larger suites have open fireplaces and south-facing balconies, and family suites run to two and three bedrooms. Some 200 metres away, linked by the tunnel, the four Burg apartments (Maisensee, Spulersee, Butzensee and Formarinsee) sit on the slopes, with kitchenettes, south-facing balconies and their own private spa of sauna, steam bath and infrared cabin, with breakfast and dinner in the hotel.
Eating and drinking
The Lechtaler Stube serves its menu from Thursday to Sunday, with light Mediterranean cooking, French haute cuisine and Austrian dishes, beginning with an aperitif in the Abendbar at 7.30pm; book by noon the same day. The Burg Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Austrian dishes à la carte, and hotel guests have five- to six-course menus and theme evenings.
Families
The Kids’ Club takes children aged 3–14, from Sunday to Friday, mornings and late afternoons into the evening, with childcare included for hotel guests, and there is a youth room with table football and table tennis. Babies are well provided for, and the ski school meeting point is right outside.
Our advice: families should book a two-bedroom suite and use the Kids’ Club; couples should take a Burg apartment for its private spa, and book the Lechtaler Stube by noon on the day.
