About Ski Centre Kopaonik
Serbia’s largest ski resort, run by the state company Skijališta Srbije: about 55 km of alpine runs and 12 km of cross-country trails, 97 per cent covered by snowmaking, with lifts carrying more than 32,000 skiers an hour. It suits every level, from beginners on the ski kindergarten slopes to experts on the black runs of Duboka, Gobelja and Gvozdac.
Most of Kopaonik’s skiing starts from the resort centre at Sunčani vrhovi and the Dolina sportova (Sports Valley) below Pančićev vrh. The lift system has a gondola from Brzeće up to Mali Karaman, three six-seat chairlifts (Karaman greben, Gvozdac and Krčmar BMW), seven four-seat chairlifts and eleven drag lifts. Many runs are blue and red cruising runs, which makes it a good mountain for families and improving skiers, while the black runs of Duboka 1, Gobelja and Gvozdac give confident skiers something steeper.
You can ski after dark on the floodlit runs at Malo jezero in the centre of the resort, Karaman greben and Pančićev vrh, with a separate night ticket. Beginners and children start in the fenced ski kindergarten with a moving carpet. Away from the pistes, the resort runs a snow park that hosts national and international competitions, an alpine coaster (bob na šinama), a zipline, tubing, a children’s park and an adventure park, and the Pančićev vrh chairlift takes sightseers up the mountain in winter and summer.

Lifts, ski passes, the slopes and the snow park are run by Skijališta Srbije. Ski and snowboard hire, servicing, ski storage and lessons are offered by the ski schools and rental shops in the resort, listed in our Ski & snowboard rental section. Only instructors from ski schools licensed by Skijališta Srbije may teach on the slopes, and unlicensed instructors can have their passes taken away.
The season usually runs from late November or early December to early April, depending on snow. Skijališta Srbije posts which lifts and runs are open each day on its website, along with live webcams. The resort information line on +381 36 5471 203 is staffed from 8:00 to 15:30.
Our advice: come in January or March for the best mix of snow and space, buy your pass online, and check the open lifts before you head up.
