About Chalet Hotel Schönegg

Schönegg is a Relais & Châteaux chalet hotel above the rooftops of Zermatt, facing the Matterhorn. Its Infinity Spa has indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool, saunas and a hammam, and Restaurant Saveurs cooks modern French food with world influences; a tunnel from Wiestistrasse brings you into the hotel from the village.

Above the rooftops

Schönegg stands on the slope above Zermatt, with the Matterhorn ahead. A tunnel entrance on Wiestistrasse leads straight into the hotel, saving the walk of about 20 minutes up to the main door on Riedweg, and the village centre and Sunnegga station are close by.

The Infinity Spa

The spa has an indoor pool of 30 m², an outdoor pool of 16 m², a whirlpool and a cold plunge pool, all with Matterhorn views. There is a Finnish sauna and a biosauna, a hammam and massage rooms; the sauna is a textile-free zone. Treatments cover massages, facials with Pharmos Nature products, body treatments and sauna rituals.

Relax above the rooftops of Zermatt and enjoy one of the region’s most spectacular spa experiences, in the hotel’s words.

Rooms and suites

Rooms are in the main house and in the Petit Chalet. The Charme rooms come as singles, doubles and Charme Matterhorn doubles, and the Petit Chalet has Style double rooms and junior suites. The Master Suite Charme is a 60 m² maisonette over two floors, with a fireplace, two balconies (one facing the Matterhorn), two bathrooms and a private whirlpool.

Eating and drinking

Restaurant Saveurs serves modern French cooking with Asian and Latin American influences, regional game in autumn and menus for vegan, vegetarian and many other diets; lunch runs 12.00–14.00 and dinner 18.30–21.30, every day. The Infinity Terrace is for long lunches with the view, and the Uncorked Bar pours wines from the hotel’s own vineyard with cocktails and light bites.

When to go

The hotel pauses between seasons and reopens for winter on 4 December.

Our advice: ask for a Charme Matterhorn room or the Master Suite, use the tunnel entrance from the village, and book a table on the Infinity Terrace for lunch on a clear day.
