About Hotel Montarto
Hotel Montarto is a historic hotel in the heart of Baqueira 1500 that has renovated all its rooms while keeping its mountain character. A private transfer reaches the 1500 gondola in under a minute, every room has a ski locker, and the hotel has a 150 m² spa, a 100 m² covered heated pool, a buffet restaurant, a wine bar and a chocolate café.
In the heart of Baqueira 1500
Montarto stands on the Bonaigua road in the centre of Baqueira 1500, and the hotel’s private transfer takes you to the start of the 1500 gondola in under a minute. Each room has its own ski locker, the hotel runs its own Ski Service shop for equipment hire, and half-board guests staying four nights or more receive food tickets for the slope cafeterias.
The spa and pool
The spa covers 150 m², one of the largest in Val d’Aran in the hotel’s words. Its thermal circuit has two hydro spas, a polar bath, a pebble path, a Scottish shower, essence and contrast showers, an ice fountain, a Finnish sauna, a steam bath and heated loungers. Treatments range from relaxing, sports, back and neck massages to wraps and facial masks.

The 100 m² pool is outdoor, covered and heated, and the hotel calls it the largest hotel pool in Val d’Aran. The pool is open daily, 09:00–21:00; the spa opens Monday to Saturday, 15:00–21:00, with restrictions for children under 16, so check with the hotel before booking a family spa visit.
Rooms
All rooms have been renovated in a warm mountain style. Doubles measure 18 m²; there are Double Comfort rooms with a dressing room and walk-in shower, triples, quadruples and family rooms, and a suite with a king-size bed and a living room with two sofas.
Eating and drinking
La Perdiu is the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner, with market-inspired dishes. The Wine Bar Viña Pomal, open to the public, serves tapas and small plates with fine wines from 09:00 to 23:00. The Jolonch Chocolate Café, open in the morning and from 16:00 to 20:00, is the place for hot chocolate and pastries after the last run.
Our advice: book half board for four nights or more to make the most of the slope food tickets, ski straight from the gondola to the wine bar, and plan your spa time for the late afternoon opening.
