About Kingshouse Hotel
Kingshouse stands at the head of Glencoe, at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr and by the ski resort. It has Guest, Feature and Signature rooms, the last with private balconies and unbroken views of the glen, a bunkhouse, a restaurant of estate-reared venison and local produce, the dog-friendly Climbers Bar and the Way Inn, part of the original building from the 1750s.
At the head of the glen
Kingshouse stands where Rannoch Moor meets Glencoe, at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr, minutes from the lifts of Glencoe Mountain and on the West Highland Way. The Way Inn, part of the original building dating from the 1750s, was renovated in 2018.
Rooms and bunkhouse
Guest rooms have king-size or twin beds and a sofa bed for one adult or two children, and are the dog-friendly choice. Feature rooms add robes, slippers and a welcome gin and tonic, with some of the best views in the house. Signature rooms have a king-size bed and a sofa bed for up to four adults, a private balcony and unbroken views of Glencoe. Guests use the drying room and stores, with a tap outside for muddy boots. The bunkhouse is for walkers resting before the next stage.
A warm Highland welcome, in the hotel’s words.
Eating and drinking
The Kingshouse Restaurant cooks Highland dishes with estate-reared venison and local produce, with a vegan menu that changes monthly; breakfast is 7–9.30am and dinner 5–9pm, with views of the valley and the Buachaille. The Climbers Bar, with open fires and a wee dram, serves coffee and scones from 10am, lunch noon–4.15pm and dinner until 9pm, and welcomes dogs. Afternoon tea is served with 24 hours’ notice. The Way Inn feeds walkers on the West Highland Way.
Our advice: book a Signature room for the balcony, ski Glencoe Mountain in the morning, and end the day by the fire in the Climbers Bar.
