About Glencoe House
Glencoe House was built in 1896 as the Highland residence of Lord Strathcona and stands in ten acres of private grounds facing the Pap of Glencoe. Its eight suites, 80–148 m², look over Loch Leven and the Glencoe mountains, three with a private hot tub terrace, and the six Strathcona Lodges, 50 metres away, each have a terrace hot tub and a wood-burning stove.
Lord Strathcona’s house
Glencoe House was built in 1896 as the Highland residence of Lord Strathcona, in ten acres of private grounds in the heart of Glencoe. It keeps the old-world elegance of a private Highland residence, with suites and lodges in place of rooms and views of Loch Leven and the Pap of Glencoe.
The suites
There are eight suites in the house, all with breakfast. Suites 1 and 8 on the garden level, 120 m² and 110 m², and Suite 2 on the ground floor, 127 m², look over Loch Leven and each has a private terrace with a hot tub. Suite 3 has 137 m² for four; on the first floor, Suites 4 and 5, 114 m² and 123 m², face the loch and the mountains, and Suite 6, 80 m², the Glencoe mountains. Suite 7, on the second floor, is the largest at 148 m², for four.
Historic grandeur in the dramatic heart of Glencoe, in its own words.
The Strathcona Lodges
Fifty metres from the house, six lodges of 75–100 m² are for two each, with a Super King bed, a sitting room with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen with a range oven, a bath and a twin-headed walk-in shower, and a private walled garden with a hot tub terrace. Children are not permitted in the lodges.
Eating
Dinner is a candlelit, seasonal three-course menu served at your own table in your suite, like a restaurant without other diners; lodge guests heat prepared gourmet dishes in their range oven. There are picnic lunches, an afternoon cream tea and an in-room maxi bar. Dinner is not included and is booked ahead.
Our advice: book Suite 1, 2 or 8 for the hot tub over Loch Leven, order dinner in for your first night, and climb the Pap of Glencoe from the door.
