About Inverlochy Castle
Inverlochy Castle is a 19th-century castle between mountain and loch, three miles from Fort William and minutes from the Nevis Range gondola. It has castle rooms and suites with views of Ben Nevis and the loch, Walled Garden rooms in a converted stable block, and Seasgair, a five-course dinner overseen by Michel Roux Jr.
Between mountain and loch
Inverlochy stands at Torlundy, three miles from Fort William, a Victorian country house and listed building with Ben Nevis behind it and a loch in front. Nevis Range, with its gondola, is a few minutes away, and the estate offers walking, wildlife, fishing, golf and photography.
Rooms and suites
In the castle, rooms run from the Ghillie’s Closet, a first-floor box room for one, through Small and Large Doubles with loch and mountain views and the Superior Double looking to Ben Nevis and the gardens, to Junior Suites with sitting areas and Suites with views of the mountains and loch. Every room has its own layout. The Walled Garden rooms and suites fill a converted stable block overlooking the Victorian walled garden. As a listed building, the castle has no lifts.
Our beautiful 19th-century castle, between mountain and loch, in the hotel’s words.
Seasgair
Seasgair, Gaelic for “warm and comfortable”, is the signature dinner, overseen by Michel Roux Jr: five seasonal courses from local producers, one sitting each evening, with canapés and drinks at 7pm in the Great Hall and optional wine pairings from the sommelier. Gentlemen are asked to wear a jacket, and it is the only dining after 6.30pm, room service included, so book ahead. Mary Shaw’s Table, a shared dinner, is held in the Library.
Afternoon tea
Afternoon tea is a ritual of its own here, and the hotel also runs the Factors Inn, a country pub.
Our advice: book a Suite facing the loch, ride the Nevis Range gondola in the morning, and be in the Great Hall at 7pm for Seasgair.
