About Alpin Lifestyle Hotel Löwen & Strauss
Löwen & Strauss is an Alpine lifestyle hotel in Oberstdorf, where hotelier and chef Peter A. Strauss runs the restaurants himself. Its rooms mix centuries-old wood panelling with Alpine stone showers, its small Caser Alp spa has a Finnish sauna, a herbal sauna and a rooftop terrace with a cold plunge, and its tables run from the Löwen-Genusswirtschaft to the gourmet ESS ATELIER Strauss.
A lifestyle hotel in Oberstdorf
Löwen & Strauss calls its style Alpen-ART: design from modern to montane, rooms of soft comfort and a kitchen that runs from fine regional to fine dining. It stands in Oberstdorf in the Allgäu, with the Nebelhorn and the ski slopes close by.
The Caser Alp
The spa is small, fine and Alpine, as the hotel puts it. The Finnish sauna, at 85 °C, is lined with hand-hewn old wood; the organic herbal sauna is gentler at 65 °C. There is a relaxation room, Kristall, with loungers, and a roof terrace with a cold plunge and the night sky; the rooftop jacuzzi is currently closed. The Caser Alp opens daily from 3pm to 8pm.

Rooms and suites
Rooms and suites combine cosy comfort with modern style: centuries-old wood panelling, summit loggias, Alpine stone showers and Tirol Living fabrics. There are eight new air-conditioned double rooms in a mountaineering design, and small single rooms for outdoor lovers.
Eating and drinking
Peter A. Strauss, a member of the Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe since 2007, is personally responsible for all three restaurants. The Löwen-Genusswirtschaft serves regional classics reinterpreted; ESS ATELIER Strauss is the gourmet restaurant, a few steps from your room; and BERGGOLD, for Fine World Fusion cooking, is coming soon. The chef also gives cooking classes in person.
Our advice: book a room with a summit loggia, take the sauna before dinner, and reserve ESS ATELIER Strauss well ahead.
