Grand Colorado on Peak 8 is a slopeside resort of residences at the base of Peak 8, where you walk out onto a heated plaza and the Colorado and Rocky Mountain chairlifts. It pairs suite-to-four-bedroom residences with Infinity Spa, two aquatics areas, private cinemas, an outdoor ice rink and three places to eat and drink.

At the base of Peak 8

The Grand Colorado stands at the foot of Peak 8, the heart of Breckenridge Ski Resort. From the Grand Lobby you step out onto a heated slopeside plaza and straight onto the Colorado and Rocky Mountain chairlifts, and the BreckConnect Gondola links Peak 8 with town. Heated underground parking means the car stays put for the week.

Infinity Spa and the grotto

Infinity Spa, open daily from 8am to 8pm, offers massages, body and skin therapies, nail treatments and waxing, using natural skin and body care products. Begin in the calm Relaxation Room, then finish in the adults-only grotto, with its hot tub, cold plunge pool, steam room, sauna and cascading waterfall.

Pools and family fun

Two aquatics areas have indoor/outdoor pools and several hot tubs, children’s pools with play features and a water slide, all looking up at Peak 8, with grills by the outdoor pools. They are open from 9am to 10pm daily, and children under 12 must be with an adult. Five private movie theatres, one doubling as a gaming room, can be reserved, there is a sports simulator, and in winter the outdoor ice rink by the slopes rents skates and helmets.

The residences

Suite residences measure about 400 sq ft, with a king bed, a sleeper sofa and a kitchenette. Larger residences lock off to combine: the two-bedroom Colorado residence is about 1,800 sq ft and the four-bedroom Colorado residence about 2,600 sq ft, sleeping 16, with a gourmet kitchen, fireplace, private balcony and washer/dryer. Stone fireplaces and balconies frame the mountain views throughout.

Eating and drinking

Robbie’s Tavern, open from 11am to 10pm, serves upscale comfort food, craft beer and après-ski specials, with fire-table seating on the deck. The Lobby Bar, from 3pm to 10pm, pours cocktails with views of the slopes; Ullr Café, from 7am to 3pm, serves Colorado-roasted coffee and grab-and-ski breakfasts. The Elev8 Rooftop has grills and views of Baldy Mountain and the Continental Divide.

Our advice: book a two-bedroom residence for a family, put the grotto at the end of every ski day, and reserve a private cinema for the evening you are too tired to go out.
