Ski-in/ski-out at Spanish Peaks · In depth

About Montage Big Sky

Montage Big Sky, framed by Montana’s Spanish Peaks and 45 minutes from Yellowstone, offers ski-in/ski-out access and rooms, suites and residences across The Lodge, the Inn and Mountain Homes. Spa Montage covers 11,000 sq ft with an indoor pool, and there are five places to eat, from Cortina’s wood-fired Italian to Beartooth Pub & Rec.

Under the Spanish Peaks

Montage Big Sky sits beneath Montana’s Spanish Peaks with ski-in/ski-out access in winter, and Yellowstone National Park is 45 minutes away for summer days of fly fishing and wildlife. Its buildings are finished in Montana woods and stone across three settings: The Lodge, the Inn and Mountain Homes.

Spa Montage

Spa Montage spans more than 11,000 sq ft, with 12 treatment rooms including a couples’ suite and a couples’ room, and 2,978 sq ft of indoor pool space for relaxing and dining before and after treatments. The men’s and women’s lounges each have a heated plunge pool and steam room. The house ritual moves through pool or whirlpool to steam or shower, and the menu includes Elements of Wellness treatments and Valmont facials; the indoor pool can also be booked privately for two hours after closing. The spa opens 8am–6pm, treatments run 9am–6pm, and the fitness centre is open 24 hours.

Framed by Montana’s Spanish Peaks, in the resort’s words, with ski-in/ski-out access.

Rooms, suites and residences

Resort King rooms measure 505 sq ft and Resort Queen Queen rooms 520 sq ft, with sitting areas and, in most, a fireplace and wet bar; Vista and Peak rooms add the valley or Spanish Peaks views, and Deluxe rooms a balcony. Studios and one-bedroom suites follow, up to two-bedroom suites with two fireplaces and the Spanish Peaks presidential suite. The residences at the Inn, of two and three bedrooms with full kitchens, connect to the resort by an underground pathway, and Signature Mountain Homes run to five and six bedrooms.

Eating and drinking

Cortina is the signature restaurant, with Northern Italian cooking, handmade pasta and an open-hearth wood-fired oven, and a wine collection the resort calls one of the largest public collections in Montana. Alpenglow, in the lobby, pours cocktails and local beer by the fireplaces with live piano and floor-to-ceiling windows. Backcast serves Thai-inspired dishes and is the resort’s après spot in winter, Beartooth Pub & Rec has wood-fired pizzas, bowling, darts and arcade games, and Wildflower Market is bakery, café and grab-and-go.

Our advice: ask for a Peak room for the Spanish Peaks view, keep a late afternoon for the indoor pool and plunge pools, and book Cortina for a long dinner.
