Montage Deer Valley stands high at Empire Pass with ski-in/ski-out access to Deer Valley Resort. It pairs the 35,000 sq ft Spa Montage, with its indoor mosaic pool, saunas and steam rooms, with seven restaurants and bars, from Apex to Daly’s Pub & Rec.

At Empire Pass

Montage Deer Valley sits at Empire Pass, high on the mountain, with ski-in/ski-out access in winter and hiking and mountain biking from the door in summer. The Après Lounge in Empire Village, directly behind the resort, gives straight access to the Ruby, Empire and Lady Morgan lifts.

Spa Montage

Spa Montage covers 35,000 sq ft. There are 27 treatment rooms and a Signature Serenity Suite, an indoor mosaic pool, a movement studio with floor-to-ceiling windows over the mountains and a large fitness room. The men’s and women’s lounges each have a fireplace relaxation room, steam room, sauna, cold shower and whirlpool. Art of Spa is the house ritual of warm and cool contrasts, from steam or sauna to cold plunge, and Skin Design London facials are offered here exclusively.

The spa opens 8am–6pm, with treatments 9am–6pm; the fitness centre and the pool open 7am–5pm, with family swim hours from 3pm to 5pm. Outside, the Alpine Pool Deck faces the peaks of Empire Pass with a heated pool and hot tub open in winter.

Rooms and suites

Rooms are large, averaging 600 sq ft, with gas fireplaces, five-fixture marble bathrooms with a deep soaking tub and heated floors, and private balconies or terraces, some with a fire pit. Resort View rooms face the grounds, Vista View rooms the mountain trails and Peak View rooms the best panoramas. Queen Queen rooms sleep four, which suits families. Two-bedroom suites have about 1,650 sq ft, and residential suites such as the Empire and the Flagstaff add full kitchens and two or three living areas.

Eating and drinking

The resort counts seven restaurants and bars. Apex is the signature dining room, with continental cooking and fireplaces. Yama Sushi is an intimate room overlooking the Empire runs, next to Vista Lounge and Terrace, the resort’s mountain great room with live entertainment. Daly’s Pub & Rec has an open kitchen, brick-oven pizzas, local microbrews and bowling. Slope Stream, by the Empire lift, serves casual lunches around fire pits, The Après Lounge pours Champagne after skiing (no reservations), and Buzz handles morning coffee. In-room dining runs 24 hours.

Our advice: choose a Vista or Peak View room for the mountain, book Apex or Yama Sushi for a special night, and arrive early at The Après Lounge, which takes no reservations. Families should note the afternoon family swim hours.
