About The Omnia
The Omnia is perched on the rock in the centre of Zermatt, a modern mountain lodge of design classics and Valais-made fittings. Its spa, with indoor and outdoor pools and a whirlpool facing the Matterhorn, is reserved for hotel guests, and the kitchen has been led by Markian Barmettler since May 2026.
On the rock above the village
The Omnia sits on its rock in the middle of Zermatt, above the rooftops and yet only minutes from the main street. Inside, the decor pairs 20th-century design classics with one-of-a-kind pieces made in the Valais, and the effect, as the hotel puts it, is a harmonious resonance rather than a statement.
The spa
The spa is for hotel guests only. There is an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, and an outdoor whirlpool with views over the village to the Matterhorn. Inside are a Finnish sauna and a biosauna, herbal and flower steam rooms, and two rooms for massage, yoga and Pilates; treatments use Aesop and Farfalla products. The Technogym fitness room opens daily from early morning to late evening.
Where the heavens meet the earth, at a distance from the everyday world, in the hotel’s words.
Rooms and suites
The smallest room, the Queen, measures 24 m² with a west-facing balcony over the rock. Double rooms of 37 m² come either with a freestanding bathtub in an oriel bay window or as Design rooms, and Deluxe doubles of 40–55 m² look over Zermatt or to the Matterhorn.
The suites all have a separate bedroom and living room: the Corner Suite at about 68 m², the Village Suite at 72 m² and the Matterhorn Suite at 70 m². The Tower Suite (90 m²) has an oriel window and a Matterhorn balcony, and the Roof Suite, 110 m² under the eaves, has its own sauna.
Eating and drinking
Dinner is served in the restaurant, where Markian Barmettler has led the kitchen since May 2026, cooking seasonal alpine produce with precision and a contemporary touch; the menu follows the seasons and the region’s producers, in the hotel’s words. The Lounge Bar has a fire, art books and bartender specialities, the Sun Terrace serves snacks with the Matterhorn in view, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
When to go
The hotel closes between seasons; for 2026 it is closed from 26 October to 26 November.
Our advice: ask for a Deluxe double or a suite on the Matterhorn side, end the ski day in the outdoor whirlpool at dusk, and keep an evening for the lounge fire before dinner.
