About Tana della Volpe

Tana della Volpe sits at 2,600 metres among the peaks above Sestriere, built of fine wood and local stone. It is a refuge rather than a spa hotel: rooms with exposed beams and big windows, two dining rooms with fireplaces and a 30 m² window facing Sestriere, terraces with a 360-degree view and torchlit dinners with ski instructors.

A refuge at 2,600 metres

Tana della Volpe is a hotel in a refuge, high among the peaks at 2,600 metres, with a sweeping view over the Via Lattea. It is built of fine wood and local stone so that it sits naturally in the Alpine landscape, and you arrive to a welcome of mulled wine.

Wellness

There is no spa here. The luxury is altitude, silence and the view: loungers on the terraces in the sun, and the warmth of wood and stone inside.

The ideal place for an authentic mountain experience, in the refuge’s words.

Rooms

Every room pairs Italian design with Alpine simplicity: exposed beams, solid wood and natural stone, comfortable beds with wool blankets and big windows full of sky and peaks. There are doubles, mountain-style triples and quadruples for families or friends, and the Superior Deluxe, with fine wood furniture and fabrics.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant and bar look out on the peaks from a series of terraces with a 360-degree view. Inside, two large dining rooms have fireplaces and a 30 m² window facing Sestriere. The refuge organises torchlit dinners with ski instructors and special full-moon evenings.

Our advice: book the Superior Deluxe, stay for the sunset, and join a torchlit descent after dinner.
