Lumière by Dunton, now Lumière with Inspirato, is a boutique residence hotel of just 18 residences and penthouses in Mountain Village, ski-in, ski-out at the base of Lift 4. The residences start at 1,050 sq ft, with chef’s kitchens and mountain views, and the hotel adds a sauna, outdoor pools, massages in your residence and Dunton Kitchen.

Eighteen residences on the slopes

Lumière stands at the foot of the Lower Boomerang run and Lift 4 in Mountain Village, which serves the whole mountain and is close to the ski school. Black Tie Ski Rentals runs the ski valet and fits equipment in your residence before you arrive, and the concierge desk, staffed 16 hours a day, handles everything else, from private chefs to babysitting. Interiors recall Telluride’s mining and skiing past, with understated, polished furniture.

Pools, sauna and massage

Outside are a hot tub, a warm plunge pool and a cold splash pool, and there is a sauna. Rather than a spa, Lumière brings treatments to you: Dunton, Mountain and Après-ski massages take place in your residence, booked with 48 hours’ notice, and private yoga or Pilates can be arranged the same way. A small fitness centre on the fourth floor has cardio machines and free weights.

The residences

The 18 residences and penthouses have one to five bedrooms, from 1,050 sq ft to 3,715 sq ft. Penthouse Wilson, with five bedrooms over 3,700 sq ft, has its own outdoor hot tub, a gas fireplace and a chef’s kitchen with a Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator; Penthouse Emma has three bedrooms over 2,885 sq ft with a media room; and Penthouse Dallas two bedrooms over 1,622 sq ft. Signature three-bedroom residences average 1,700 sq ft, and some residences connect to make larger homes for families.

Eating and drinking

Dunton Kitchen is an intimate, Alpine-inspired restaurant with a strong cocktail bar, serving dinner and a Sunday brunch, with in-room dining too. A European-style continental breakfast is included.

Our advice: book a residence that connects if you travel with family or friends, have your skis fitted in your room before you arrive, and finish the day with the hot-and-cold circuit of hot tub, warm plunge and cold splash.
