Schlosshotel Kitzbühel, on Ried Kaps above the town, favours real materials over show: stone, hand-polished glass and old wood. Its Momentum Spa covers 3,000 m² with an indoor pool, a year-round heated outdoor pool and a sauna landscape, and dinner moves between STREIF, the DAS Kaps grill on the golf course and the Rōzu sushi lounge.

The Schlosshotel stands at Ried Kaps, on the edge of the Kaps golf course, with the mountains around it. It is a house of quiet materials rather than display, and of many room types: thirteen categories, from Classic and Comfort doubles to maisonettes, junior suites, the Spa Suite and the Sissi and Franz and Adler suites, some with a balcony, a bathtub or a mountain view.

The Momentum Spa

The spa covers 3,000 m². There is an indoor pool facing the mountains and an outdoor pool heated all year. The sauna landscape has a panorama sauna, a herb sauna, a sanarium and a steam bath, with infusions of Swiss pine, hay and Alpine herbs, and relaxation rooms with loungers look to the peaks. A premium fitness centre and a sunlit studio for Pilates, yoga and flow sessions complete it, and treatments run from Eastern to Alpine.

Momentum isn’t about more. It’s about less: less noise, less haste, less distraction, in the hotel’s words.

The sauna landscape is for guests aged 16 and over. Children are welcome in the textile sauna beside the pool with an adult, and during Family Spa hours splashing in the indoor pool is encouraged.

Eating and drinking

STREIF, on the second floor and for hotel guests, serves breakfast from 7.30 to 11.00 and a dinner buffet from 18.30 to 21.30, with dishes cooked in front of you at gourmet stations. DAS Kaps, the grill restaurant and golf clubhouse, serves premium cuts, fish and vegetarian dishes, from 18.00 in winter. Rōzu, the sushi lounge on the third floor by the bar, serves sushi, sashimi and hot Asian dishes; book ahead.

Families

Large tables are made for big families, as the hotel says, and the summer outings it suggests nearby include boating on the Schwarzsee, the Kelchsau toboggan run, a walk to the Bichlalm and the Aurach wildlife park.

Our advice: book a junior suite or the Spa Suite, swim outdoors in the snow after skiing, and reserve Rōzu or DAS Kaps for the nights you want a change from STREIF.
