Topnotch Resort
With one of Vermont's premier spas · In depth
About Topnotch Resort
Topnotch Resort stands on Mountain Road in Stowe, on more than 100 acres beneath Mount Mansfield. It pairs Topnotch Spa and its solarium and pools with rooms and suites in the main lodge, two- and three-bedroom resort homes, Flannel and The Roost, a tennis academy and an equestrian centre.
Below Mount Mansfield
Topnotch sits on Mountain Road between Stowe village and the ski resort, and Stowe’s recreation path begins on its grounds. Mountain Ops, on site, rents downhill and cross-country skis, snowshoes and bikes, and in winter the equestrian centre runs sleigh rides through the countryside.
Topnotch Spa and the pools
The spa offers massages, facials, body treatments, salon and wellness services, for guests 16 and over in the spa and its private lounges; book about three weeks ahead. The men’s and women’s lounges each have a relaxation area, lockers and their own steam room, sauna and hot tub.
One of Vermont’s premier resort spas, in the resort’s words.
The water is the real draw. The indoor solarium pool is filled with natural light and mountain views; outside there is a seasonal family pool for summer and an adults-only pool open all year; and two jacuzzis, a soaking tub and the signature waterfall jacuzzi complete it, with saunas and steam rooms. Children under 16 are welcome in the family pools and the salons with an adult.
Rooms, suites and resort homes
All rooms and suites are in the main lodge, steps from the spa and restaurants, with pillowtop beds, down duvets, Lavazza espresso makers and tile and granite baths; top-floor Executive rooms have 13 ft cathedral ceilings. The Cottonbrook, Goldbrook and Moss Glenn suites have gas fireplaces, separate living areas and private decks. The two- and three-bedroom resort homes have full kitchens, fireplaces and decks. Dogs are welcome in some rooms.
Eating and drinking
Flannel, the signature restaurant, cooks with Vermont produce, Jasper Hill cheese and Boyden Farm beef in an open kitchen with views of Mount Mansfield. The Roost is the modern lobby bar and restaurant, with a shuffleboard dining bar, fire pits and a bocce court.
Families
Children have a Junior Tennis Academy, a Spa Newbies menu, family pools, pony rides, lawn games and seasonal activities, and the resort offers cots, high chairs and childcare recommendations.
Our advice: book a fireplace suite with a deck, take the solarium pool after skiing, and keep the adults-only outdoor pool for a snowy evening.
